October Horror Writing Challenge • Days 3 & 4

October Horror Writing Challenge • Days 3 & 4 🖤

Life got busy this weekend, so today you get two invitations to write something unsettling.

🚪 Day 3: The Door in the Woods

You’ve walked this trail for years. The door wasn’t here yesterday. Tonight, it stands open just enough for you to hear someone inside calling your childhood nickname.

Writing prompt: Who knows that name—and what would convince you to step through?

🖐️ Day 4: Someone at the Window

Every night, a handprint appears on your kitchen window. You wash it away each morning. Tonight, you watch it forming—and realize it’s on the inside.

Writing prompt: Your character lives alone. What do they do before the second handprint appears?

Pick a picture and write for ten minutes. Follow whatever detail makes you uneasy.

Which one gets under your skin: the door or the window?
